Our Social Responsibility
We take our responsibility seriously
As a popular location, we create unforgettable experiences together with event organisers and partners for many thousands of guests every year. This goes hand in hand with responsibility, which the team at the Messezentrum Salzburg is happy to take on. In many areas we are already a role model. In others, we are continuously working on improving ourselves.
Connections to the Public Transport Network
Messezentrum Salzburg is well integrated into the public transport network of the city of Salzburg with 3 trolleybus lines. The trolleybus lines 1, 7, 8 and 11 run at short intervals and provide an ideal connection between the railway station and the city center and the exhibition center.
Visitors to the fairs organised by Messezentrum Salzburg also travel free of charge by public transport. The trolleybus tickets can be downloaded on the website of the respective fair.
Barrier-free Accessibility
As a multi-functional venue, our goal is to be as barrier-free as possible for all visitor groups. Messezentrum Salzburg has barrier-free doors and gates throughout. Lifts are available for the conference rooms on the first floor. Tactile guidance systems for the blind and visually impaired are part of the basic equipment, as are barrier-free and disabled-friendly toilet facilities. Specially designated parking spaces are available at P1, P3, P5, P7 and P8 close to the entrances.
Organic Catering at Messezentrum Salzburg
Since 2019, Chef Partie, under the management of Andreas Birngruber, has been the catering partner for all events at Messezentrum Salzburg. Since 2010 the company has been certified as organic and as a Bio Austria Partner and serves visitors meals, snacks and drinks that are not only "organic" but also seasonal and regional. For the caterer, "organic" is much more than a label. Since 2020, Messezentrum Salzburg and Chef Partie have also been awarded the "Good to Know" certificate of origin by the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture.
We don't promise the moon, but the green from the earth. Honest food is fun, tastes natural and leaves its mark, also on the environmental balance sheet!
Energy Efficiency and Green Electricity
The electricity used by Messezentrum Salzburg and the salzburgarena comes exclusively from renewable energy sources.
Electricity is currently fed in from the company's own photovoltaic systems (more than 4,000 m2); the system was expanded by 2,200 m2 in 2024.
New lighting in the salzburgarena: The high-performance LED floodlight Sirius® is now the top performer in the salzburgarena. It offers maximum flexibility thanks to various lighting technologies, has individually controllable lighting modules and allows controllability with full integration into the building management system, resulting in considerable energy and CO2 savings.
This lighting system brings together the best of two worlds: colorful show lighting full of emotion and standard-compliant, glare-free light for top sporting performances.
Organizers of congresses and events are increasingly focusing on climate protection, regional value creation and social compatibility. This gives the event itself a positive image among the public, guests and sponsors.
Green Meetings & Events
Since 2017, Messezentrum Salzburg has been a licensee of the Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings and Green Events. A clear sign for more sustainability in the event industry!
